I am using a Technifor scriber usint with X and Y axix, no Z axix. It was tested OK and after shipping it to the customer site, it has error E-88 Unknown origin type. Anybody knows what this means?

It could be something in the programming too. Check how you are triggering scriber cycle start from PLC. Ask for a sample program from supplier and follow the same steps. I think it happens when you command new cycle in the middle of another one.
It is mot probably a hardware issue. If its under warranty, I would suggest to send it back to the spplier or manufacturer.
